I’m a firm believer in leading by example, so I wholeheartedly believe that if we want our loved ones to lead healthy lifestyles, we must exemplify that lifestyle ourself. I also believe that that which we believe will manifest itself, if we believe we can, then we will, if we sit and doubt our abilities, then we will never move. A large part of our belief system is formed when we are young, it begins with parents and older siblings if those are present, and if we see our role models yo-yo dieting and throwing in the towel, only hating their bodies for their aesthetic then we will eventually soak in those mentalities and lead those lives as well. This is why I strive hard to not bash my body for the things I sometimes want to hate about it, (we all have our insecurities), rather I try to celebrate the capabilities of my body and to treat it with nourishing foods for mind and body. These nourishing foods come in the forms of not only food that we eat, but food for the soul and mind. For my mind and my, I listen to mind coaches on podcasts and read about becoming excellent, the journey to success, which should be never ending, there is no end game in sight for how great you can be, always strive for progress. If I am to have children I want to lead them to healthy lifestyles by my example, a positive example. With all that said, I’m super friggin’ proud of my younger sister for stepping out of comfort zones and into the gym with me, and doing the workouts I give her to do while I go off and do my workouts. It’s hard to make those first steps and step past the discomfort of feeling as if “you’ll look dumb,” or feeling as though others may be judging and watching. Don’t lecture your family to bring them to the light, lead them with your example. When the results start rolling in, so does the curiosity of others, and they will join the movement.
